How can we help?

Clearline is made by one independent developer. Every email is read by a person.

Questions, bugs, a drink that's missing from the list: email [email protected]. Please don't send your journal or health details; we never need them to help.

Common questions

My estimate looks higher or lower than I expected.

Clearline works the number out from what you log, your body and the time, so it’s only as close as those are. Log each drink when you start it, and add your height and age if you skipped them at setup: they bring the body-water ratio closer to you. How it works, one tap from the number, shows the formula with your own numbers in it. Bodies vary, so the real number can be higher.

I logged a drink by mistake.

Tap Undo on the note that appears, or press ⌘Z on a keyboard. Later, open the night in the Journal and swipe the drink to delete it; Undo works there too.

How do I move my journal to a new phone?

On the old phone, open the Journal, tap Your data, then Back Up Journal… and save the file somewhere the new phone can reach, such as iCloud Drive. On the new phone, choose Restore a Backup… at setup, or Restore or Import… from the same menu later. Restoring only adds nights and drinks; it never replaces one you already have.

Can I get my drinks in a spreadsheet?

Yes. In the Journal, tap Your data, then Export Drinks Spreadsheet… or Export Nights Spreadsheet…. Files are saved where you choose; nothing is uploaded.

I bought Remove Ads and still see the banner.

Make sure you’re signed in with the same Apple Account, then open Remove Ads and tap Restore purchase. Family members sharing your purchase get it the same way.

How do I stop personalized ads?

Open your device’s Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Tracking, and turn Clearline off. The banner then shows ads that aren’t based on you. Either way, the ad never sees your drinks, weight or estimate.

How do I turn Apple Health on or off?

Open the Health app, tap your picture, then Apps, then Clearline, and choose what it can read and write. Clearline reads your weight and saves each drink as Number of Alcoholic Beverages; it never writes the estimate.
