How can we help?

Countersign is made by one independent developer. Every email is read by a person.

Write to us

Questions, bugs, a state rule that looks wrong: email [email protected]. Please don't send journal entries, ID details or signatures; we never need them to help.

Common questions

I made a mistake in an entry I already filed.

Open the entry in the Ledger and add an amendment. It gets its own number, points back to the original and says what changed and why. Filed entries are never edited or deleted, so the journal keeps its history.

My state keeps the journal on paper.

In Arizona, California and Washington, Countersign works beside your paper book: it keeps your appointments, fees and miles and the page of the book each signing is on, and never stores ID numbers, signatures or thumbprints.

A signer asked for a copy of their entry.

Open the entry and share a copy for that signer. It shows only their part of the entry, never another signer’s, and hides the ID number and address unless you choose to show them.

How do I back up my journal?

Make a backup from the Ledger’s export menu and lock it with a password you’ll remember. Keep it somewhere other than your phone. Restoring a backup only ever adds entries; it never replaces one you already have.

A state rule in the app looks wrong.

Please tell us which state and which rule, and what your commissioning office or the law says. Each rule in the app shows the text it came from and when we checked it, and we’ll fix it.

How do I restore my subscription on a new device?

Sign in with the same Apple Account, open the subscription screen and tap Restore purchases.

How do I cancel?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple: open your device’s Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Your journal stays yours, and reading, exporting and backing it up stay free.
